Thailand visa exemption caps your time in Thailand at 60 days per visit. The statute attaches its consequence at 61 days or more, so 60 is the last safe count. Sixty days per entry since July 2024, extendable once by 30 days at an immigration office. Land-border entries are watched more closely than air arrivals.

Who it applies to

This matters most if you are:

The rule โ€” and why it exists

Thailand visit length. At most 60 days in Thailand per visit โ€” written as <=60 / VISIT.

Why it exists: a short-stay allowance is a promise to leave. The cap, and the way it is counted, is what lets a state admit visitors without treating every visit as immigration.

Counting the days

  1. Count the days of each stay in Thailand on its own, arrival and departure days included.
  2. No single stay may exceed 60 days.
  3. Leaving and re-entering starts a new stay โ€” but frequent or back-to-back visits invite refusal as a de facto resident.
